Strengthening Women’s Economic Resilience in Sri Lanka!

DevPro is conducting a Gendered Value Chain study on Dairy, OFC (Other Fruit Crops), and Horticulture across North, Uva, and Central Provinces to support the THRIVE Project – ‘Together for Her: Resilience-building, Inclusivity, and Voices for Equality’, jointly implemented by UN Women and Chrysalis, with funding support from the Government of Australia.
The project aims to strengthen women’s economic resilience, inclusivity, and leadership in post-disaster and shock-affected districts, including Badulla, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, Mannar, Kilinochchi, and Colombo.
Sri Lanka faces high climate vulnerability, gender inequalities, and recurrent economic shocks, which disproportionately affect women from marginalized communities, including women with disabilities, women-headed households, and plantation-sector workers. Cyclone DITWAH further deepened these challenges, disrupting value chains, causing income losses, and increasing unpaid care and protection burdens.
Within this context, DevPro is conducting a district-specific gendered value chain study using Emergency Market Mapping and Analysis (EMMA), Gendered Value Chain Analysis (GVCA), and a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach.
