𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐏𝐫𝐨, in collaboration with 𝐃𝐕𝐕 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥, is conducting a field assessment of the 𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐀𝐋𝐄) system in Sri Lanka’s Agriculture sector.
Using the Adult Learning and Education System Building Approach (ALESBA), the assessment aims to understand how the existing system functions and identify opportunities to strengthen sustainable learning pathways for adults and youth.
The field assessment brings together government stakeholders, agriculture authorities, trainers, training institutions, farmers, young farmers, students and other sector stakeholders through Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and consultations.
Particular attention is given to technical education and learning opportunities for youth, especially those Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEETs), and to strengthening connections between agriculture, TVET, skills development, entrepreneurship, employment and livelihood opportunities.
Through this collaborative process, the assessment will generate evidence to support quality, inclusive and responsive Adult Learning and Education systems that better serve adults and youth and contribute to sustainable opportunities in Sri Lanka’s Agriculture sector.
