This week, DevPro team continued field consultations in the Northwestern Province, in support of the 𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐀𝐋𝐄) 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 delivered as part of technical advisory services provided to 𝐃𝐕𝐕 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥.
The assessment focused mainly on the agriculture sector. With coordination and support from the Department of Agriculture, the assessment engaged key stakeholders, including the Provincial Director of Agriculture and senior provincial level officials, Agriculture Training Officers, women farmers and young farmers.
Through Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), the team explored institutional arrangements, coordination mechanisms, training systems, learning needs, monitoring and information systems, and opportunities to strengthen agriculture-related learning and skills development.
The field engagement provides valuable perspectives for understanding the existing ALE system and identifying practical opportunities to strengthen inclusive, relevant and responsive learning pathways within Sri Lanka’s Agriculture sector.
