We are pleased to announce that Baseline Assessment fieldwork commenced in Trincomalee District on 09 September 2026 under the FAO-supported project “𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐫𝐢 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚’𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬.”
The baseline assessment is being conducted across selected minor tank-based farming communities to establish the pre-project situation of farming households, agricultural productivity, food security, water management, climate resilience and Farmer Organization governance.
The fieldwork combines household surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Farmer Organization assessments and technical assessments of minor tank systems. The information collected will provide an important evidence base for project monitoring, adaptive implementation and measurement of results at endline.
DevPro is working closely with farmers, Farmer Organizations, government institutions and other local stakeholders to capture community-level experiences, challenges and priorities.
Fieldwork commenced in Trincomalee, with the assessment subsequently extending to Vavuniya District.
