Cinnamon cultivators visit Haldummulla: A journey of learning and collaboration

In a significant initiative to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in the cinnamon industry, cultivators from Northern Sri Lanka recently embarked on a transformative visit to the Haldummulla area in Badulla district. Organized on the 28th and 29th of June 2024, this visit centered around exploring the cultivation and processing techniques at Chamara Sampath’s processing center in Nikapotha.

Led by Sewwandhy Gunawatdhana and Amila Sanjaya from the Department of Export Agriculture (DOEA), the visit aimed to provide comprehensive teaching and demonstrations to the visiting cultivators. This educational exchange was further enriched by the expertise of authorized translator Sundareswaran, ensuring effective communication and understanding throughout the visit.

The cultivators were warmly assisted and guided by DevPro Badulla team, facilitating a fruitful interaction between the Northern cultivators and their Southern counterparts in the cinnamon industry. This collaborative effort not only showcased innovative farming practices and processing methods but also strengthened bonds within the cinnamon community, fostering a spirit of mutual learning and support.
